The fifth season completes a new series, as the league returns to Los Angeles to attend Andrei and Trixy's wedding. During this period, Ruxin resigned to avoid Sacko penalties that completely hinder business movement, while the remainder of the league secretly drafted it during a bachelor party with incomprehensible ambiguity.
The best part of the premiere is that Ruxin, who earned the Sacko last year for finishing last, does not want to go along with the Sacko punishments, so he temporarily joins Rafi's Domination League.
Now in its fifth season, I'm not sure that FXX's The League can surprise me any more in terms of plot, but the witty one-liners have always been where this series is at, anyway.
It's a hit among the obsessive sports/fantasy league fans and a hit to the opposite crowd: people like me who have fallen asleep during football games and picked a fantasy team based on how attractive the players are.
It's still a very funny show at times and the premiere tonight produced one of my biggest laughs of the year but the extreme nature of the joke writing starts to wear thin after awhile.
